Dr Sovan Dey graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from Manipal Medical College, Nepal, in 2002. He worked in Dhaka in General Surgery with the Red Cross Society and later continued in General Practice before relocating to Melbourne in 2007, where he completed a Master of Public Health.
Dr Dey is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) and has served as a clinical examiner for the RACGP specialist (OSCE) examinations. He has completed advanced certificate training in skin cancer medicine, skin surgery, and dermoscopy, and has a clinical interest in the detection and management of skin cancer. He also performs a range of minor procedural treatments within general practice.
Dr Dey holds multiple occupational health accreditations, including:
Accredited Health Professional (AHP) under the Australian National Standard for Rail Safety Workers
Approved Medical Practitioner (AMP) for occupational health surveillance
Designated Aviation Medical Examiner (DAME)
SPUMS-accredited Dive Medical Examiner
OGUK (UKOOA) accredited examiner for UK Oil and Gas
Medical Review Officer (MRO) for drug and alcohol testing
Pre-employment medicals and work cover injury management
He is currently undertaking further specialist fellowship training in Occupational Medicine.
Outside of his clinical work, Dr Dey enjoys flying, travel, sports, and music.
